Next stop on the D line is the 71^st street station, where artist Joan Linder created a laminated glass piece as a tribute to the natural landscape in Bensonhurst.

Known for her labor-intensive drawings, Linder transformed wild flowers and vegetation (which were found from the (actual) streets of Brooklyn) into conceptually rich images. Visually, the botanical elements flow in the direction of the train, and can be seen from both the platform and the street level. Go see Linder’s The Flora of Bensonhurst, you’ll undoubtedly be amazed by the detail.
